MTV - Elect This

It’s another Canadian election! Do young people care? According to history, young voters don’t… but MTV doesn’t believe it. MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT is rallying young people – no pundits, no slogans, no rhetoric –for an all-new federal election special. Young voters of all political stripes, including those still undecided, speak their minds on democracy and the issues they care about in MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT: ELECT THIS, premiering Monday, April 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Led by law student, youth voter, and MTV NEWS political correspondent Mike Anderson, MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT: ELECT THIS asks why young people aren’t being approached about issues surrounding the federal election and throws down the gauntlet, challenging the political parties to address the youth vote… before they lose it.

This is is the ninth installment of the MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT series. The original Canadian series take an in-depth look at serious topics that impact MTV viewers and aims to spark discussion and debate. Previous installments include the highly rated MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT: INSIDE THE PROTEST, which sparked a flux of conversation and opinions about the G20 protests and the showdown between riot police and protesters; MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT: BULLIED TO DEATH which explored the sudden emergence of suicides associated with anti-gay bullying and shed light on real life bully experiences, and MTV NEWS PRESENTS IMPACT: ABORTION STORIES which examined the spectrum of controversy around abortion and featured interviews with individuals close to the issue.
